Cup o’ (Pro)Jo (with WPRI additive)

Okay, so the men’s basketball team lost Saturday, but look on the bright side! Matt Mullery ’10 became the 23rd player in Brown history to put up 1000 points in a career!

According to WPRI TV, Rep. Patrick Kennedy has called Mass. Senator Scott Brown’s candidacy a “joke.” Man, you model for one Cosmo spread…

And because we care about you, dear Reader, here’s a message from the Rhode Island Police Chiefs Association reminding you to drink responsibly this Super Bowl weekend. Sound advice, though we’ll forgive you a bit if you’re a Patriots fan and the Colts end up winning.

And with that, enjoy your Super Bowl (or Super Bowl free evening, if you’re not inclined to football)!

Prospect and Meeting: Brown’s New Dating Site

You may have seen their posters around campus: Prospect St. and Meeting St., they read. What they’re advertising is a new online dating service for Brown students.

The way it works, according to the site’s “About” section is as follows: you register for the site with your Brown email address. You are then prompted to input the names of up to 5 fellow students you are interested in romantically. Those people are then notified that someone has listed them on Prospect and Meeting, and are prompted to join the site to find out if they might have match. If someone you list has also listed you, you will both be notified! Unless that is the case, however, everything remains anonymous (phew.)
So don’t worry–your crush is never going to find out you listed them unless they list you back.

For more information, or to sign up and find out who’s been checking you out around campus, go to: http://prospectandmeeting.com/

Ask Gail: Super Bowl Edition

In search for some insight before the big game? Torn between which team to root for? Who better to ask then Brown’s sweetheart, Gail.

Before we get into the Super Bowl predictions, let’s learn more about the woman who’s smile is sweeter than the Ratty’s soft serve.

Gail, who has “always had animals,” is the proud owner of Penny, her small black and white cat.

“Although I have a boyfriend, she is much sweeter. She’s my world.”

AWW! We’re sure all you cat lovers out there can relate.

Now, back to the game. It’s the Colts versus the Saints. Gail, who normally roots for her Patriots, had some interesting insight on who should take home the trophy.

“I think the Colts are going to win because they are the better team. But, hopefully, the Saints should win because the Colts always beat the Patriots, so its a vendetta, kind of.”

There you have it! Now, go watch the game at the big screen in the Ratty. Gail will be there!

The same ten questions we always ask: Dean Wing

Welcome to the first installment of The Same Ten Questions We Always Ask, in which we pester Brown administrators and Thayer Street favorites for answers to vaguely inane questions, all in the name of taking you behind the headline and exhibiting the coffee-drinking, ringtone-having human side of the people you interact with every day. Because obviously you’ve always wanted to know how Dean Bergeron likes her pizza and which magazines the dude from Spectrum India reads. First up, Dean Wing of of the Med School. [Read more →]
