Morning Mail promised us that there would be Freshly Baked Raspberry Lemon Scones in the Blue Room today, and that they would be ”delicious.” It’s true!
The scones, which are a bit smaller than the usual Blue Room scones, are two for $2.40. According to Morning Mail, we have Faculty Club Executive Chef Dave Chabot to thank for this lovely pastry. And that’s not all! Apparently, Chef Dave will be “whipping up” delicious pastries for the Blue Room every Tuesday.
To learn more about Chef Dave and his “New American flair,” you can check out his bio on the Faculty Club web site. But in the meantime, you should probably head over to the Multipurpose Room..

The Rhode Island Department of Health’s building will remain closed today due to a weekend flood caused by bursting pipes. Great, how are people going to get their panin—er, vital records now?
Three candidates in the 2010 Rhode Island gubernatorial election have sworn to sign a gay marriage bill if they are elected, and according to gay rights activists, they’ve been invited to publicly announce their promises at a March 3 rally. Rhode Island and Maine are the only two New England states that do not recognize gay marriage, though Maine for its part had a brief courtship with it.
And just to give you nightmares tonight, a man dressed entirely in black clothing and carrying a chainsaw was arrested this morning for attempting to steal copper wire at a construction site. Yeah, we weren’t expecting that sentence to end the way it did, either.

Lunch: Ratty
We always appreciate Cheese Quesadillas on the Roots & Shoots line. We’re also excited for yet another enigmatic Ratty dessert item: “Hermits.” From what we can gather, they are a type of spiced cookie, though even Wikipedia is stumped about their particulars.
Dinner: V-Dub
The V-Dub won this one as soon as we read the words “Orange Turkey” on the Refectory’s dinner menu. Ew.

Let’s face it, Thayer gets pretty old after first semester. So instead of doing “the usual” (whatever Thayer destination that might be) during the weekend, Make-a-Day-of will feature various Providence neighborhoods, giving you the tools and tips to get your butt of Brown campus and out on the town.
This week, we’ll feature a Providence destination that every Brown student should know and love, yet surprisingly seldom do — Wickenden Street.
