Apparently the Rhode Island legislature is considering a bill that would make it a misdemeanor for retailers to sell video games rated M (Mature) and AO (Adults Only) to minors. There’s a question about whether or not this is constitutional; some of the objections come from disbarred lawyer and video game enemy Jack Thompson, which is really all sorts of funny if you know anything about the man. If Newport is going to host the America’s Cup anytime soon, the city’s manager Edward Lavallee thinks the state of Rhode Island needs to step in and help with providing the resources needed for hosting the event. Other neighboring cities and localities, too, ought to pitch in.
The trial of suspended Providence Police officer Marcus Huffman will begin this week. Pretrial motions start this morning, with jury selection occurring afterward. Huffman is charged with raping a woman back in 2007; allegedly, he then returned to the scene to take the woman’s report.
