No, not crop circles.

According to the sign nearby, the labyrinth had something to do with the American Society of Dowsers and their benefit for Haiti and Water for Humanity happening tonight at the Faculty Club. Yes, dowsers, the dudes who find water and other stuff underground with the help of sticks.

Saturday, Water for Humanity holds a workshop on water filtration methods for developing nations.

Remember 1979? With No. 12 Cornell’s upset victory today over No. 5 Temple in the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament, an Ivy League team has a shot to go past the second round for the first time in 31 years.  In that year’s tournament, Penn made it all the way to the Final Four after a huge second-round upset of Dean Smith’s No. 1 North Carolina Tar Heels. Still, eventual winner Michigan State—who had some guy named Earvin “Magic” Johnson—smoked Penn in the Final Four by 34 points. Since then, five Ivies have made it to the second round only to bow out. The Big Red will have a chance to avoid that fate on Sunday against the winner of the Wisconsin-Wofford game.

UPDATE: Wofford fell just short against UWisc. Looks like there will be a lot of red at the Cornell game.

Temperatures in the upper 60s today busted the 1927 record for March 19 in Providence. We don’t want to jinx things for everyone — just wanted to point out how lucky we are while it lasts.

As Providence’s cozy reply to the Californian mega-chain Pinkberry, Thayer Street’s Juniper has served Brown students and Providence natives deliciously nutritious frozen yogurt (“frogurt”) for years.  And, (lucky us) it just got better.  After diligently perfecting their two basic flavors—blueberry and “original”—the owners of this Providence staple have inducted a new flavor into the froyo hall of fame: Mango.

In case you were wondering what the deal was with these zeppole things at the Ratty, V-dub and Blue Room — it’s all in honor of the other big saint with a day this week, St. Joseph.

Don’t know how the pastries got added into the mix of traditions, but “San Giuseppe” — Mary’s husband — is big with the Italians, hence his feast’s importance in Providence. Unfortunately for us college students, the March 19 holiday isn’t used as an excuse for excessive drinking, but at least nobody’s going to pinch you for forgetting to wear red.

A doll of President Barack Obama was found hung upside down in effigy in a Central Falls High School classroom. The room belongs to one of the fired teachers at the school, but State Police have determined the incident was not a hate crime and the teacher will stay in the classroom for now.

Rhode Island’s total number of jobless residents has declined for the first time in three years. Though the unemployment rate remains the same at 12.7 percent, the state has managed for two months in a row to create more jobs for the unemployed.

The first round of the NCAA basketball tournament has brought in the tourists, who seem to have liked the city for its architecture, “home-like feel,” and, yes, the fantastic weather we’ve been having this week.
