No ethnic studies for you! In a continuing effort to
Anglicize ensure equity in state public education, Arizona Governor Jan Brewer signed a bill yesterday prohibiting the teaching of “ethnic studies” in state-funded schools. The law bans classes that “promote resentment or advocate ethnic solidarity over treating pupils as individuals.” The bill was originally drafted to target a 14-year-old Chicano studies program offered to students in Tuscon public schools.
Good thing Ms. Brewer never took classes at Brown.
