Pimp My Munchies: Tabasco Chipotle Pepper Sauce
As I’ve acquainted myself with the culinary life at Brown University, several truths have become apparent, which I will now communicate with a series of simple similes:
- Getting through the Ratty and V-Dub at mealtime is like navigating Heathrow during the holiday season.
- Waiting on line at Blue Room is like waiting in the deli line at Zabar’s.
- A Spicy Chicken With is like the first time I watched Clerks (in other words, revelatory).
- Unsweetened Nestea is to diet beverages what Kristen Wiig is to SNL; surrounded by lots of other bland, uninteresting peers it establishes itself as totally awesome.
But one truth stands out among all others: Dorm room munchies, no matter how tasty, are always in need of more flair, Chotchkie’s status.
Therefore, I am beginning a series of posts dedicated to simple, cheap additions to your dorm room goodies that will make them taste better than 96.5% of the stuff Rachel Ray has ever cooked. Read up on the munchie-altering powers of Tabasco Chipotle Pepper Sauce after the jump.
Tabasco’s Chipotle Pepper Sauce is incredibly potent, sophisticatedly smoky and at only four bucks a bottle (they tend to last more than a month) it’s a steal once you realize what it can do for your food.
When you feel like rewarding yourself after an evening in the library, shake a few drops into your Easy Mac for chipotle mac n’ cheese that has a flavor profile on par with several expensive bar snacks. This sauce is perfect if you feel like forgetting that your Cup O’ Noodles is actually just a cup of noodles and goes well in just about everything else. As an added bonus, it has no calories and just a little bit of sodium so you can have your cake and eat it too.
A word of warning: while being huge on flavor, it is a hot sauce, and spice level can be a little high even if you only use a tiny bit—so if you can’t take heat, be careful.
In sum, Tabasco Chipotle Pepper Sauce will turn your munchies from flab to fab with little effort. And a final note, if anyone from engineering can actually design this awesome dispenser watch from Undercover Brother, please contact me.
