While you were enjoying your last week or so on break at home, the men’s ice hockey team was busy taking down the #1 college hockey team in the nation in dramatic fashion! Just a day after falling to the Bulldogs 5-2 in New Haven, Bruno enacted its revenge back in Providence on Sunday.
Down 2-1 in the 3rd period, the Bears fought their way back. With around seven minutes left to play, freshman Garnet Hathaway put home a loose rebound to tie the score. Then, in true story book fashion, senior captain Harry Zolniercyzk took a breakaway and buried a wrist shot with only 46 seconds left on the clock to give Brown the victory, snapping Yale’s 10-game winning streak and in all likelihood bumping them out of the #1 spot.
Many didn’t give the Bears a chance, but the win proves that anything is possible.
If you’re back on campus early, come out and see the Bears play next on Jan. 22 against Clarkson!
