12 Days of Spring Weekend: Professors list their dream lineups

[insert your professor’s face here]

We’ve already seen what lineups blog writers wished for this year, but has anyone ever stopped to think about what professors have to say? They have feelings too, you know! I asked a few professors to list three bands or artists that would compose their dream Spring Weekend lineups (some decided to list a bit more because they don’t play by our rules, man). While some responses were predictable, others revealed a side to them that was previously unknown. Ricky Martin, anyone?

Jazz, the late greats: Dave Brubeck and our local Dave McKenna whom I heard live multiple times; Wynton Marsalis, Keith Jarrett. Folk, the 60’s: Joan Baez, Theodor Bikel, Pete Seeger on 12-string guitar (Seeger played at Brown about a decade ago – fabulous!) Classical: Casals, Rostropovich, Segovia, David Oistrakh, Yehudi Menuhin, Perlman (all of whom I had the privilege of hearing live) ;)”

There you have it! Next time you see any one of these professors, make sure to compliment them on their awesome music taste, and ask how one can ever achieve their level of coolness.
