Event: Nudity in the Upspace
Time: All week
Location: The PW Upspace

Nudity in the Upspace provides a safe space to explore bodies and identity in a variety of ways. Events are described below:

Event: Nude Arts & Crafts/Body Painting
Time: Monday 9/29, 7:00 – 9:00 p.m.
Decorate the walls of the Upspace and each other. Nudity required to participate.

Event: Nude Yoga
Time: Tuesday 9/30, 5:00 – 6:00 p.m.
Practice yoga while in the nude. Nudity required to participate.

Event: “Bodies in Context” Mini Lecture Series
Time: Wednesday 10/1, 8:00 – 9:30 p.m.
Listen to three short lectures that address bodies through different lenses, followed by a Q&A. Fully clothed event.

Event: Family movie/game night
Time: Thursday 10/2
Watch a movie, play games and eat snacks in the nude. Nudity required to participate.

Event: A Devised Piece of Nudity
Time: Friday 10/3, 8:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m.
A piece of nude theater that includes personal narratives, skits and comedy. Nudity optional.

Event: Nude Open Mic Night
Time: Saturday 10/4
Anyone can perform whatever they like, such as a poem, song or dance, while naked. Nudity required for performers, optional for audience members.

Monday, September 29:

Event: Ben & Jerry’s Benefit Night
Time:  6:00 – 8:00 p.m.
Location: Ben & Jerry’s (224 Thayer St.)

Get ice cream to benefit mental health awareness. Proceeds benefit the Samaritans of Rhode Island Crisis Hotline & Suicide Research Center. Eat ice cream and help a cause!

Event: Brown German Club Film Screening, “Die Arier–The Aryans”
Time: 7:30 p.m.
Location: Smitty B 106

The film is an award winning documentary about global right-wing movements and their interpretation of “aryanism.” The screening will be followed by a Q&A (in English) with the director Mo Asumang, a well-known German-Ghanaian filmmaker and actress. This is the first event in a series to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the fall of the Wall.

Wednesday, October 1:

Event: Oil & Water Screening and Discussion
Time: 4:15 p.m.
Location: Salomon 101

This year’s First Readings, for non-freshmen not in the know, was actually a documentary film about two Ecuadorian boys facing “one of the world’s worst toxic disasters.” One of those two boys, David Poritz, will be on hand for a discussion of the film after the screening.

Event: Cornaval!
Time: 5:00 – 8:00 p.m.
Location: The Met, 55 Angell St.

To celebrate the end of corn season, the RISD Programming Board is throwing a corn extravaganza. There will be popcorn, cornhole, corn-silk screening, a photobooth, and more.

Event: Prospects for Peace After Gaza, with PLO Ambassador Maen Areikat
Time: 7:00 – 8:30 p.m.
Location: Metcalf Auditorium

Maen Areikat is the Chief Representative of the Palestinian government to the U.S., he highest-ranking Palestinian diplomat in the U.S. He will speak on the occupation and violence in Gaza and efforts towards peace in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Come to hear his comments and to participate in the following Q&A session.

Thursday, October 2:

Event: Pizza & Politics with Buddy Cianci
Time: 7:00 p.m.
Location: English Cellar Ale House, 165 Angell St.

Buddy Cianci, two-time mayor of Providence and current mayoral candidate, will answer your questions and hear your concerns about the city of Providence. There will be pizza and, for those of age, beer. Help with voter registration will also be available.

Event: Senior Night #1: English Cellar Ale House
Time: 9:00 p.m.
Location: English Cellar Ale House, 165 Angell St.

Sponsored by the 2015 Class Board, enjoy free food and Brown-themed specialty drinks.

Saturday, October 4:

Event: Trip to Six Flags
Time: 10:30 a.m. – 8:30 p.m.
Location: Six Flags New England

The 2016 Class Board is organizing a trip to Six Flags during Fright Fest. Discounted tickets for $12 will be available for juniors only until Wednesday, and then will be opened up for all if there are spots available.
