The Science Underground is hosting this events which features lectures by Bill Warren, Professor of Cognitive Science, and Paul Armstrong, Professor of English. Although science and art seem like completely different intellectual areas, the two have significant overlap — more than just the Neuro concentrator you know who dresses artsy. No word on how much free pizza – but “refreshments available” at Flatbread is a good sign.

Event: BUFF presents: Mullholand Drive

Time: 9:00 p.m.

This David Lynch movie stars Naomi Watts and that guy who is engaged to Jennifer Aniston; it’s a dream-like L.A. in which an amnesiac woman wanders around trying to figure out her identity. In a way, aren’t we all trying to do that, though?

Saturday, January 31:

Event: RISD & Brown: Selma
Location: 15 West (Westminster St)
Time: 6:50 p.m.

Brown NAACP is co-hosting this event, which begins with a march from 15 West to Providence Place Mall for a 7:25 p.m. screening of Selma, the Oscar-nominated film chronicling MLK’s march from Selma to Montgomery, Alabama. (Note: if you think walking down College Hill is hard, then you should probably go see this movie).

Event: RISD Quickies: Get Your Nails Did
Location: Carr Haus
Time: 1 – 3:00 p.m.

This amazing workshop will go over nail-painting techniques, including how to do a French manicure, a half-moon manicure, geometric patterns, and polka dots. From personal experience of ruining a friend’s nails for two weeks, I can attest to the fact polka-dot nails are no easy feat… so, attend this class if you want any hope of being quirky-cool.
