Event: Who Has the Right to Speak? Hate Speech and “Self-Infantilization” On College Campuses

The Brown Political Forum is hosting a discussion attempting to answer, among other questions, “Is Brown restricting speech that is uncomfortable to students, and if so, is this justified?” There will be free pizza.

Event: Brown Annual Fund Student Board Awareness Event
Time: 6:00 p.m.
Location: The Chancellor Room in the Ratty

The Brown Annual Fund Student Board is hosting free food and drinks to get to know more about what they do, how they do it and how you can become a part of the annual fund.

Tuesday, April 7 

Event: J. Cole at Lupo’s
Time: 8:00 p.m.
Location: Lupo’s Heartbreak Hotel

Fresh off the release of his newest album, 2014 Forest Hills Drive, rapper J. Cole will be taking the stage tomorrow night.

Event: and red all over: a new play
Time: 10:30 a.m.
Location: Rites and Reason Theatre

Written by Noah Fields ’17 and Sofia Robledo Rower ’18, and red all over is described by the playwrights as “a multimedia mosaic-ritual-performance-prayer-riddle-poem unraveling queer multi-racial love.”

Wednesday, April 8:

Event: Student Journalists in Nicaragua
Time: 12 p.m. – 2 p.m.
Location: Watson Institute for International Studies

Ten students in the course called “International Journalism: Foreign Reporting in Practice” spent their spring breaks in Nicaragua covering different aspects of Nicaraguan life.

Event: Worst Behavior: An MPC Workshop on Appropriation of Black Media
Time: 7:00 p.m.
Location: BERT 130

“What does this mean for the state of Black artistry – does this signal a diversification of the music and dance industry or a continuing trend of Black Cultural appropriation?”

Thursday, April 9:

Event: “Shut Up and Dodge” with Walk the Moon
Time: 12 p.m. – 2 p.m.
Location: Sky Zone Providence

95.5 WBRU is hosting a game of dodgeball with the Cincinnati band, Walk the Moon at Sky Zone Providence trampoline park.

Friday, April 10:

Event: Loving Day Festival
Time: 3:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m.
Location: Main Green

BOMBS (Brown’s Organization of Multiracial and Biracial Students) is hosting food, baked goods, student performers, and more on the Main Green to celebrate the Loving Supreme Court case, which, on June 12th, 1967, ruled anti-miscegenation laws unconstitutional in the U.S.

Event: Theta Block Party
Time: 4 p.m.
Location: Kappa Alpha Theta

Join the sisters of Kappa Alpha Theta in a festivity of food, fun and music for a philanthropic cause.

Event: Divine Dance Revolution
Time: 7:00 p.m.

Brown’s own step troupe, Divine, is bringing Dance Dance Revolution to life this Friday. Entrance is $1 at the door.

Event: Starla and Sons Presents: New Members

Brown’s longform improv group, Starla will be performing in Salomon Friday night and unveiling its newest members to the stage.

Event: Celebrate Consent Ft: Double Clap

Double Clap kicks off Sexual Assault Awareness Month with a night of tunes and consensual dancing.

Event: Relay For Life

Relay For Life is an annual event that raises money for cancer research, treatment, and prevention programs. With food from Louie’s and Flatbread and performances from a host of Brown bands and a cappella groups, it’ll be sure to be a great time.
