Artist OTW: Mia Rollins ’17

This week’s artist of the week is Mia Rollins ’17 for her work in both visual arts and modern culture and media. We visited Mia in her studio in List Arts Center, where she spends at least eight hours a day, she said.

Mia has had her work shown in numerous exhibitions on campus in List Arts and the Granoff Center for the Creative Arts, as well as in the John D. Rockefeller Jr. Library and J. Walter Wilson.

Serving as a Department of Undergraduates Leader for the visual arts department, Mia is an active contributor to the University’s arts programs.

Her father, Phillip Kent Rollins ’87, also concentrated in visual arts at Brown.

“You don’t want to be a carbon copy of your parents, so as a way of asserting my identity, I was like, ‘my dad does the art, I’m not an artist,’” Mia said.  “But that didn’t end up being the case. I couldn’t resist.”
