SPONSORED: Brown/RISD in Argentina

Imagine the last week of summer. You’ll likely be languishing at home, doing very little but counting down the days until school starts again. Wouldn’t a trip to South America be nice? Wouldn’t it be even nicer if that trip promises plenty of opportunities for cultural immersion and humanitarian work? This coming summer, from August 18-26, a group of Brown and RISD students will be heading down to Buenos Aires, Argentina for a week of service and cultural exploration.

The service element, rather than a set of isolated projects, will involve extensive collaboration with local humanitarian group and work on the ground with the local Jewish community. In this way, students will have the opportunity to learn about the ongoing efforts within Buenos Aires as they participate in the day-to-day work of rebounding from the 2001 economic crisis. Connecting with local college-aged peers, students will gain a unique perspective on volunteering abroad. Moreover, the trip promises plenty of exposure to Argentinian culture—the outstanding food, the noteworthy arts and attractions in Buenos Aires and, of course, the fascinating people who live there. The trip, sponsored by Brown/RISD Hillel and JDC Entwine, is taking applications until March 4 and is open to all current Brown/RISD students. Please direct all application inquiries to argentina@brownrisdhillel.org.
