Do you find yourself wanting to join a club every semester and then letting shopping period anxiety get in your way? We get it. But we’re also here to convince you that now is the time to send in those applications! And while we’ve got you reading, we’re going to give you our best pitch for why you should join Blog.
We are Brown student’s go-to source for campus news and happenings.
If you’ve ever wanted to be that person to break campus-wide news, then Blog is your jam. Join a team of highly motivated journalists who are committed to keeping College Hill in the loop. We spotlight students who do incredibly cool and powerful things, we keep students in the know about University news and summarize campus-wide emails, we report the Spring Weekend lineup announcement, break College-Hill-relevant news, and give you day-to-day insight on whether you should go to the Ratty or the V-Dub. We even take down Jesse Watters so you don’t have to. Bill O’Reilly also gave us a special shout-out for this drinking game. Basically, we’re your Meiklejohn, your best friend, your professor, your guardian, and your stress-relieving golden retriever all combined in one.
We’re always looking to improve and grow so that we can give College Hill innovative, interactive, and exciting content.
We are passionate about providing an engaging media platform that covers what the College Hill community wants to read, watch, and hear. From our research on what it means to be Happy@Brown, to our forays into Drunk/Sober/High territory, we are constantly trying to push the envelope and develop cutting-edge content to keep up with your pace. In order to always be here when people need us, we need you to keep our momentum going and to take Blog to new heights!
If you missed the madness that is the Activities Fair, you might not know that BlogDailyHerald is looking for new staff members!
Our writer application is open to everyone, and can be found here. We’re always looking for new upperclassmen voices, as well as freshmen (to keep us ~young~). Whether you’re excited to write profiles on your fellow classmates, do some investigative journalism on the Ratty, or take a closer look at student life here, there’s a space for your voice on Blog. Applications are due next Monday, September 21st.
If you’re interested in applying to our video team, please email email@example.com. Check out our sketch show Brunonia, this dramatic reading, and these drunk guys, for examples of our very cool video content.
Our creative team is seeking photographers and amazing graphic-makers, so email firstname.lastname@example.org if you can help us out on the aesthetics front.
If you have questions or just want to hear more about Blog, the application, and our staff, please come to our info sessions this week! We’ll be at the Herald offices at 195 Angell St. this Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, (the 15th — 17th), at 6:00 p.m. See you there!
A new semester brings new beginnings and, of course, new Blog writers. We’ve got a rambunctious crew this time around and we can’t wait to see what the new Blog Babies will bring to the proverbial table. They’re already writing up a storm, so be sure to keep an eye out for their new content! BlogDailyHerald presents to you our latest additions to the staff:
Jack Parker: Jack Parker (great name, right? such a “first-y last-y”) is the coolest Dad to be joining BlogDH this semester. Mr. Parker, as his kids’ friends call him, is currently a floating freshman, not having decided what to study. A lifelong New Yorker, he loves all New York sports teams, especially the Yankees (as a Boston native, it was painful for me to write that). A true “cool dad,” he has his finger on the pulse: he loves Breaking Bad and Game of Thrones, in addition to every Will Ferrell movie ever made. He plans on attending “Brown Only Karaoke” every week for the rest of the year.
-Lana del Foreplay
Lana del Foreplay: To quote Shakespeare: “What’s in a name?” For Lana del Foreplay, the answer is everything. Dedicated to the study of all things sex-related throughout her time in college, Lana felt truly awakened after her semester in FemSex. When the opportunity to write Sextion came about, she could not resist the opportunity to embrace her inner Samantha Jones (not Carrie Bradshaw, she sucks). As a second semester senior, she may not know what she’s doing next year, but she does have plenty of jobs lined up (get it?). Despite her love of casual hook-ups and sex, she is still looking for someone to kiss under Soldiers Arch at midnight.

A gentle reminder to those who are considering applying to Blog: applications are due tonight at 11:59 pm. If you have Brown-related musings you want to share with the campus, feel like you’d fit in with Blog vibe, and are just really desperate for tons of Bear-headed stickers and tank tops, remember to send your app to email@example.com. (Email us ASAP if you want to speedily get a last-minute application.)
Good luck and lots of Bloglove!
Hear ye, hear ye! Do you like Brown? Do you like writing about food, movies, sports, and enjoy the occasional round of Bergemash?
If you answered yes to any of the questions above, BlogDailyHerald wants YOU!
