Women’s and men’s soccer are on the ball

The women's soccer team discusses how to maintain their lead over Monmouth at the half

The women’s soccer team (2-2) defeated Monmouth today, 2-1, in a very offensive game. Freshman forward Kiersten Berg dominated throughout the game, scoring both of Brown’s goals. The first goal came with only 18.7 seconds left in the first half; the Monmouth goalie fumbled the ball, and (after some more fumbling around by various players), Berg managed to head the ball into the net. Her second goal came in the second half off of a breakaway. Monmouth answered with a goal of their own — they also had a breakaway that, unlike Berg’s, amounted to nothing more than a shot that went wide of the net.

Catch the next women’s home game on September 19, 2pm, against Sacred Heart.

On Friday, the men’s soccer team (2-0-1) beat South Carolina, 1-0, in their first game of the Brown Soccer Classic. Junior forward Sean Rosa scored the lone goal of the game with less than eight minutes left. Brown plays Hofstra tomorrow, Sep. 12. 2:30pm, at Stevenson Field. Be there to cheer on the undefeated Bears!
