BlogDailyHerald’s Third Annual Halloweek Costume Contest

halloweekcostumecontest

Brunonia, you have spoken: Halloweekend will, in fact, be the weekend after Halloween… which means that this week is officially Halloweek! If you haven’t begun to do so already, you’re probably planning your costumes for the coming days.

Why, you may ask? For the past two years, you’ve showed us your creativity, your style, and your ability to coordinate group costumes despite your high levels of inebriation. That said, we want to see the most insane costume ideas you can think up. If your costume is impressive enough, it may just end up right here on BlogDH.

That’s right, dear readers. We’re back at it again with our third annual Halloweek costume contest. The premise is much like any other Halloween costume contest with a slight twist: have a friend take a picture of you in costume within the next week and submit it along with your first name, first letter of your last name, class year and a brief description of your costume to blog@browndailyherald.com. We’ll announce the winner of the contest on the morning of Monday, November 4, and — wait for it — every post on Monday November 4 will use your costume photo as its featured picture. In addition, we’ll post our favorite runners-up on Blog and on our Facebook page. So, even when you’re stuck in classes on that gloomy, un-fulfilling Monday and are feeling depressed in the wake of the post-Halloween comedown, you’ll still be able to check BlogDH and feel that Halloween spirit.

Creativity will be the main standard we’ll use, but you’ll definitely get extra points for Brown relevance and group costuming. We’ll be accepting submissions until 5 p.m. on Monday, November 3. Happy Halloweek, and we look forward to seeing your submissions!

BlogDailyHerald’s Second Annual Costume Contest: Results

Thanks to all who submitted photos of their costumes to our second annual costume contest. We were thrilled to get lots of great submissions, all of which were a testament to Brown students’ creativity, wit, and incredible ability to coordinate costumes and poses while being photographed. In true Twelve Angry Men fashion, the editors of BlogDH engaged in a heated debate over your submissions before reaching a final consensus.  While we all agreed on a costume idea, we were split on which group had better execution.  So, without further ado, let us present the first place winners:

From left to right: James G. ’13, Hannah K. ’15,  Nick D. ’14, Ben M. ’14, Kelly M. ’13, Katie D. ’13, Avery N. ’13, Cory A. ’13, Josh G. ’14, Kathy N. ’13, Christina J. ’14, Tanya N. ’13, Laney C. ’14, Tori L. ’14

Top to bottom, left to right: Zak C. ’15, James G. ’15, Kris K. ’15, Ali K. ’15, Sara P. ’15, Julia V. ’15, Jessica V. ’15, and Joseph R. ’14

It ends tonight (our Halloweek costume contest, that is)

Did you rock the most awesome costume while at in line for Halloween Whisko? Want to achieve campus-wide fame? Enter our second annual Halloweek costume contest! Send a picture of your costume to blog@browndailyherald.com with your first name and first initial of your last name, your class year, and a brief description of your costume by TONIGHT at 5 p.m. If you’re lucky, your beautiful face (and costume, duh) will be featured in every post we run tomorrow. Send ’em on in!

Want to be famous? This could be you

Can you believe it? You too can achieve this level of Brown stardom: last year’s costume contest winners are shown here “posing” in costume with Brown’s organ in a post about the University’s age-old Halloween tradition. Of course, this was just one of several posts in which this Ben & Jerry’s crew was featured. So when you’re pregaming tonight, instead of fishing for compliments about how great your costume is (please, you already know it’s killer), have your biddies snap a photo and send it in to blog@browndailyherald.com with your first name, first initial of your last name, class year, and a brief description of your costume to be entered in our costume contest. If you win, your costume photo will be featured in every single one of our posts on Friday, November 2.  A star will be born.

Check out our Facebook event here.

BlogDailyHerald’s Second Annual Halloweek Costume Contest

Last year, you showed us your creativity, your style, and your ability to coordinate group costumes despite your high levels of inebriation. Brunonia, you have spoken: Halloweekend will, in fact, be the weekend before Halloween (and the craziness that will be Halloween Whisko). We want to see the most insane costume ideas you can think up. If your costume is impressive enough, it may just end up right here on BlogDH.

That’s right, dear readers. We’re back at it again with our second annual Halloween costume contest. The premise is much like any other Halloween costume contest with a slight twist: have a friend take a picture of you in costume within the next week, and submit it along with your first name, first letter of your last name, class year and a brief description of your costume to  blog@browndailyherald.com. We’ll announce the winner of the contest on the morning of Friday, November 2, and — here’s the kicker — every post on Friday, November 2 will use your costume photo as its featured picture. In addition, we’ll post our favorite runners-up on the blog and on our Facebook page. So, even when you’re stuck in classes on that gloomy, un-fulfilling Friday and are feeling depressed in the wake of the post-Halloween comedown, you’ll still be able to check BlogDH and feel the Halloween spirit.

Creativity will be the main standard we’ll use, but you’ll of course get extra points for Brown relevance and group costuming. We’ll be accepting submissions until 5 p.m. on Thursday, November 1. Happy Halloweek, and we look forward to seeing your submissions!
