Study break of the day: December 15, 2011

Because everything cute is Japanese

Yes, that's a cat giving another cat a massage.

There’s no record of anyone dying from an OD of cuteness (yet), but if anyone’s feeling up to the task, there’s Cute Roulette. Joining the plethora of websites featuring the distracting adorableness of the animal kingdom, Cute Roulette brings you and a puppy falling asleep (oh boy can we sympathize), a panda playing soccer (it’s like watching two fat black and white fluffballs roll each other around), and a cat trying to fit into a water bottle (because the internet isn’t complete without a healthy dose of feline).

Not to be confused for that other roulette, which is probably definitely NSFW.

Goodbye productivity, hello adorable hugging cats.

Time-waster of the day: October 10, 2011

We’ve heard for a while now that British children consistently outshine their American counterparts — they get higher test scores, show better literacy rates, all that jazz. We’re afraid to report that American children have now fallen even further behind in a variety of other areas, including macking dudes up, backing coupes up and chucking the deuce up.

Time-waster of the day: December 1, 2010

It’s everybody’s favorite kind of time-waster — one involving outrageously cute baby animals! Zoo Borns brings you the most adorable creatures born in zoos and aquariums around the world. Maybe the cuteness will distract from the grey weather and all the work you should be doing.

What to do tonight: 5/7

6:00 – 8:00 P.M.
Rites and Reasons Theater
Originally, I thought this was an outer-space themed party. It is not. Twist! SPACE stands for Space in Prison for the Arts and Creative Expression and Brown students involved in the organization help facilitate arts workshops in R.I. state prisons. So, while there will be no aliens or awkward planet-themed pick-up lines, there will be some very cool pieces of art. And free snacks. And we love free snacks.

7:00 & 8:45
Avon Cinema
Yes, finals period is a stressful time, and for some of you, our recent post on adorable baby animals just might not have been enough to help take your mind off all that work. Fortunately, tonight marks the opening of “Babies,” a movie which seems to have been entirely based on the thought, “Hey babies are cute, I bet some people might pay to look at them for two hours…” As far as I can tell, there is nothing going on in this movie besides four babies being really cute, but that seems kind of perfect for this week. It’ll take you back to a simpler time in your life.

Wind Symphony Concert

8:00 – 10:00 P.M.
Salomon 101

Trust me on this one, the kids in the wind symphony know how to put on a good show. There probably won’t be any Lady Gaga medleys, but surely you can survive without them for one night.

Time-waster of the day: May 5, 2010

Exams and papers got you down? What better way to cheer up than with adorable animals?!

Here is a compilation of some of the internet’s most adorable animal moments. You’ve probably already seen them all, but it can’t hurt to relive the cute all over again.

Animal surprise is always cute, so we bring you kittens and pandas!

If eating is your game, baby animals do a ton of that too. Two ebony and ivory teeny bunnies get their snack on, while this hamster devours broccoli.

If incredible laziness is more your bag, here is pathetic panda!

Or if you simply want some honest-to-goodness ridiculous cuteness, check out a compilation video of Knut the polar bear‘s best moments (and ignore the horribly cheesy editing).

Play us out, keyboard cat.
