We have some pretty exciting news from the new Brown Concert Agency co-chairs Sandy Ryza ’12 and Gillian Brassil ’12: the BCA wants input from the Brown community in selecting the acts for the Fall 2011 concert! They’ve already secured one act, whose identity has yet to be leaked revealed, but are looking to add 1-2 more artists to round out the line-up. The winner of this poll will be the BCA’s top priority in their booking efforts (Important Note: top priority does not necessarily mean booking is guaranteed, if that were the case we would have been dancing rselves clean last spring). Through extensive research, they have come up with a list of available and affordable artists, which is brimming with possibility, so don’t get hung up on the lack of a “write-in” option. The concert will take place on September 24th. Our poll will be up until this Friday night, so be sure to vote for your favorite artist/group (and tell all of your friends to vote too!). Sample music from our personal favorites (tUnE-YarDs, Theophilus London, and Atlas Sound) as well as the rest of the options after the jump.
Headlining this year’s Fall Concert are Big Boi and Stegosaurus. Tickets are still available thanks to good weather on Saturday. Doors open at 6:15 after sundown. What better way to end the High Holiday Season?
9:00 P.M. – 2:00 A.M., Goddard House
Featuring a live jazz ensemble headed by Band Features Award winning and Grammy nominee jazz guitarist, Gerry Beaudoin, Lush Life isn’t exactly your typical frat party. Hosted by the Alpha Delta Phi Society, Lush Life will also offer free swing and jazz dance lessons from 9-10:00 P.M. $5 entry and semi-formal attire requested.
As most of you already know by now, this year’s Fall Concert with Big Boi and Stegosaurus will be held outside on Lincoln Field! That means that 1,400 more tickets have gone on sale, 700 last night and 700 this morning. Apparently Fall Concert hasn’t been held outside in a few years, and it should be pretty awesome. Doors open at 6:15 pm on Saturday and the show starts at 7 pm, an email from BCA said. What’s great about that is, according to the email, Big Boi won’t go on until after sundown so that anyone observing Yom Kippur can still enjoy the festivities.
And to all of your freshmen out there, this is only a tiny taste of what’s to come in the Spring.
According to the BSA website, tickets for the Fall Concert sold out as of this morning. However, remember, they only released 400 tickets between yesterday and today because that’s the capacity for the venue if the concert has to be held indoors. If the weather is good, there will be a chance for everyone who had too rough of a night at Fish Co. and overslept their 8 a.m. alarm.
The BCA has informed us that tickets will be available Starting Wednesday, September 8 at 8am. Tickets will be available on Brown Marketplace (http://bsa.brown.edu/) and will cost $13 each. Only 1 ticket per Brown ID. Half will be available Wednesday morning with the other half available Thursday morning, also at 8 AM. Students can pick up their tickets starting the week of Monday, September 13 from 5pm-8pm at the Stephen Roberts Campus Center (Faunce) Information and Welcome Center desk.
