Pizza Night in the Rock and Sci-Li

If you’re like me, you probably are running dangerously low on both meal credits and points. Any opportunity for free food is a godsend. Don’t miss a great chance for free pizza this Tuesday and Wednesday, when the Brown University Libraries will host pizza night in the Rock and Sci-Li.

On Tuesday, there will be free pizza starting at 9:00 in the Sci-Li lobby, and the following night on Wednesday in the Rock lobby.

Reading period is truly a special time here at Brown, where personal hygiene goes out the window, coffee is your best friend, and stuffing yourself with over four slices of pizza is completely normal. Studying is a mental exercise so it should totally burn a ton of calories, right? Tell your friends, study groups, heck, even your professors to enjoy some pizza, and don’t forget to thank the librarians when you grab your fourth second slice. It’s first come, first serve, so don’t be late.

Chow Down Brown: Andrews Commons rocks

AC

On Monday, BlogDH had the opportunity to check out the new and improved Andrews Commons at a soft opening. We tasted food, played with drink dispensers, and generally ran around like kids in a Chuck-e-Cheese. At the beginning of the afternoon, Aaron Fitszenry, the saint of on-campus dining, warned us: “The food [here] is going to be unlike anything we’ve ever had on campus. Ever.” He most definitely lived up to his word — basically, Andrews Commons is the new holy land, and we are really excited about it. It’s truly a game-changer.

The Food: Antonio’s better watch out, because “AC” means business when it comes to pizza. We were able to try a pepper-jack cheese and chicken variety, as well as a BBQ Thai Chicken pie. The days of boring, single-topping pizzas leaving you hungry are in the past. These pies present you with an entire dinner laid out on a single slice. The chefs have truly stepped up their game with a stone hearth oven and premium ingredients including locally milled flour, organic produce, and cheese blends that we only thought existed in our sans-meal plan dreams. The new oven is also really fun to look at, because, well…FIRE! Pizza slices are topped with fresh and occasionally-unexpected ingredients like arugula and carrot shavings. Just recounting this experience is making us hungry for another slice.

Pizza Nite returns tonight and tomorrow!

20131208_161722

The onset of finals means the return of a semesterly tradition: Pizza Nite at the SciLi and Rock.

For those of you who are freshmen, or just haven’t experienced it before, Pizza Nite is a semesterly event sponsored by Campus Life and the University Library featuring tons of free pizza as well as apples, cookies, and other snacks.

At its core, Pizza Nite isn’t really that special. It’s just a free pizza event, like the many others on campus. But it distinguishes itself in two ways:

1) The sheer volume of pizza. Several semesters ago, the total stood at 90 pizzas for the SciLi and 80 for the Rock — a little bit more than your typical free pizza shenanigans (and minus having to pretend to care about the student group or lecture that’s serving it).

2) The spectacle. Mainly due to #1, Pizza Nite usually attracts a pretty large crowd. And often the Madrigals singing carols.

It’s happening tonight in the Rock lobby and tomorrow night in the SciLi basement, both at 9 p.m. We’ll see you there!

Pizza Nite returns: TONIGHT and tomorrow!

It's that time of year.

It’s that time of year.

Need a study break? Like free food?

In case you haven’t been benefiting from the Blog meal credit cooperative yet — or even if you have — come on down to the libraries tonight and tomorrow for the semesterly tradition of Pizza Nite! If you haven’t been before, you really ought to check it out. It’s quite the scene.

TONIGHT (Tuesday): SciLi basement
Tomorrow (Wednesday): Rock lobby
Both at 9pm.

Expect crowds. (Also, apples.)

All for you. Those boxes are all for you.

All for you. Those boxes are all for you.

Free pizza tonight at the SciLi!

Free pizza, anyone?

You know the drill: Pizza Nite repeats itself tonight at 9 p.m. in the SciLi FriSC.

Pizza Nite is TONIGHT and tomorrow!

Pizza Nite

It’s that time of year again. The impending doom of finals also means that Pizza Nite is upon us once more. In this semesterly tradition, the library staff brings out boxes and boxes and boxes of pizza… and did I mention more boxes? (And cookies and brownies — and some apples to be healthy.)

Let them eat pizza. Rock tonight (Tuesday), SciLi tomorrow (Wednesday), both at 9 p.m.

That was good. Especially because it was free.
