Hostess goes under

Due in large part to an impasse in negotiations with its striking workers, Hostess has decided to close up shop. It will lay off most of its 18,500 workers and will sell off its assets (read: Ho Ho’s, Devil Dogs, Twinkies) to the highest bidder. What, then, does this mean for really high people everywhere who just want a nuclear winter-proof late night snack (by the way, a complete myth)?

Well, since all these different brands will very likely get gobbled up by different companies, you might not be seeing one stand full of Hostess snacks in Jo’s much longer. Nevertheless, I like to believe there will always be a market for the 82-year-old Twinkie, particularly in the essential demographic of buzzards and other birds of prey (see above video).
