Need something to do Saturday night? Chances are this won’t solve that problem–but, just in case, we’re obliged to tell you that everyone’s second or third favorite Jersey Shore cast member will be dropping mad beats at the Twin River Casino in Lincoln, Rhode Island this Saturday, November 23.
Yes, that’s right, people. DJ Pauly D (a.k.a. Paul DelVecchio a.k.a. someone you forgot existed) will be returning to his home state to play all his music that we definitely know.
Tickets are actually selling fast because, bizarrely, the 33-year-old Providence native has accumulated a fervent and adoring Rhode Island fanbase. In 2010, his mere visit to a friend at University of Rhode Island incited a riot resulting in an official URI rule: Pauly D can no longer come on campus unannounced. The GTL guru is acutely aware of his adoring fans in Rhode Island, having humbly tweeted after the event, “See what happens when I’m in town for 1 day Lmaooo.”
If you weren’t one of the 2.9 million viewers watching Rhode Island’s very own Pauly D on The Pauly D Project last Thursday when it premiered, don’t worry, we got you covered. After all, Pauly D is one of BlogDH’s favoritelocalcelebs.
The Jersey Shore spinoff has a simple premise: following the adventures of Pauly D and his friends Biggie, Jerry, Ryan, and JROC. This season, as MTV says,
Viewers will get to see Pauly D chase his dream as he signs a recording contract with rap icon 50 Cent’s G-Note Records, accompanies pop icon Britney Spears on her international “Femme Fatale” tour and tries to balance it all with the array of photo shoots, public appearances and media interviews that are now a part of his everyday life.
Yeah, buddy! Your favorite Rhode Island native, DJ Pauly D, is back at it again. We thought his new ‘Jersey Shore’ spinoff, ‘The Pauly D Project,’ was his GISP. Obviously, we were wrong.
The new reality show follows the self-proclaimed “small town boy [living in a lonely world]” as he leaves the comfort of Lil Rhody in pursuit of fame and success as a DJ. Childhood friends in tow, Pauly makes moves as he books a variety of gigs and spends a lot of time with the ladiez. Like any other bad MTV show, the combination of “The Pauly D Posse” (although we think they should be called “The Plastics”), the pursuit of happiness and the single life can only mean one thing: the show must take place in Vegas, baby!
The show’s trailer (above) reveals that he spins a variety of shows in Sin City, opens for Britney Spears in Puerto Rico and signs a record deal with 50 Cent. Props for shooting for the moon and landing among the stars, Pauly D. Keep partying it up in Vegas, but we’ll miss seeing you at the intersection of Brown and Waterman… and Geoff’s.
Trying to figure out how to get back in shape after Thanksgiving and before the holidays? Need an idea for what to ask for this holiday season? Worried about how to stay fit without your OMAC classes over winter break? Don’t worry: Mike ‘The Situation’ of the Jersey Shore has recently released a workout video. Problem solved!
What’s even better, the DVD is good for even more than situational abs. A blooper reel has just been released, and you can watch it here. There are certainly some hilarious and awkward moments (we’ll let you figure that one out for yourselves.) Perfect for a study break, or a break from your daily GTL routine.
Hometown hero(?) Pauly D made a surprise trip to URI this Wednesday night to visit an old girlfriend (one of the rarest roses?). A mob of eager students formed around his white Mercedes (detailed with his name on the back) and waited for the reality tv show star to emerge. As you can see from the video, the mob of about 400 students descended on the vehicle, presumably hoping to cop a feel of the gelled up fist pumper. Although he may have decided not to visit Brown on his trip back home, his teachings of GTL are with us always.
In case you missed it: Last semester, BlogDH sent an investigative team into the place where Pauly D gets his hair cut.
Lifetime has announced that it will be airing a new show called Brighton Beach, according to an article in The Observer. There are so many things to be said about this, we don’t even know where to begin.
First of all, Lifetime? Really? The people who brought us movies like She’s Too Young? Although I guess with their semi-recent taking over of Project Runway in some attempt to revamp their image(?) this kind of makes sense.
You might be asking yourself, why Brighton Beach? Or maybe even, wtf is Brighton beach? Well, Brighton Beach is the neighborhood in Brooklyn where the famous Coney Island resides. There is also a large Russian population in Brighton Beach, which is, in part, one of the ways the show will differentiate itself from Jersey Shore, according to the article in The Observer. In fact, according to the article, that seems to be one of the basic premises: “The show, Brighton Beach, will place a group of strangers in a house on Coney Island, and promises to differentiate itself from Shore by focusing on the foibles unique to the Russian community, according to producer Elina Miller.” Continue Reading
