Remember Cheryl Frasier, that ditzy contestant in the Miss United States Pageant in Miss Congeniality? When asked to describe her perfect date, Frasier doesn’t respond with something trite like “I enjoy long walks on the beach.” Instead, she interprets the question differently and answers that the perfect calendar date is April 25th, “because it’s not too hot, and not too cold. All you need is a light jacket!” Thinking outside the box? She’s so Brown.
Of course, this answer makes perfect sense: Cheryl Frasier is Miss Rhode Island, so she’d know exactly how to dress for a New England spring day. Well, guess what? Today is April 25th and the high is conveniently 64 degrees — it’s not too hot, it’s not too cold, and all you need is a light jacket. Things just got real meta.

During last week’s Oscars broadcast, it was hard not to miss the previews for a certain ABC show premiering tonight at 10 pm. Here’s a hint: three very familiar letters…
In this case, “GCB” stands for “Good Christian Bitches,” as opposed to the all-too familiar “Graduate Center Bar.” The show, based on a book of the same name, features Kristin Chenoweth as a former nerd who now heads the “Good Christian Bitches” of Plano, Texas.
According to a GCB chalkboard (and surprising no one, given Brown students’ love of all things meta), the bar will be showing the “GCB” season premiere tonight. If you a) are under 21 or b) aren’t sure you want to devote an hour of precious Sunday library time to an ABC midseason replacement show titled “Good Christian Bitches,” never fear — BlogDH will be meticulously analyzing the show for all similarities to our favorite drinking establishment. Stay tuned.

As you may or may not know, the print edition of BlogDailyHerald has a shiny new edit board who aren’t wasting any time recruiting new talent for the paper. In the past few weeks, three different sections of the paper have advertised in Morning Mail and asked some interesting questions. So again we ask you:
“Feeling opinionated?”
“Enjoy going to Brown sporting events?”
“Looking to gain real-world business experience at Brown?”
If the answer to any of these questions is “yes,” let them know! For more information on opinions or sports writing, you can email opinions(at)browndailyherald.com or sports(at)browndailyherald.com, respectively. If you would like to apply to the Brown Daily Herald, Inc.’s sales staff, you can find the application (due January 15th) here.
Interested in anything else Herald related? Look out for announcements about BDH (and BlogDH) info sessions in the near future.

Happy New Year! To bid adieu to the year that was, we are recapping the most read BlogDailyHerald articles of 2011:
10: Students who do cool things: The igloo on the Main Green
Remember Snowpocalypse 2011? This crew of (then) Sophomores responded to the silly amount of snow by constructing and sleeping in an igloo on the Main Green.
9: Carrie Bradshaw, Brown’s latest fictional alum
Candace Bushnell, author of Sex and the City, released Summer and the City: A Carrie Diaries Novel as part of her young adult series. In the book, which follows the Sex and the City characters as teenagers, Bushnell revealed that the series’ lead mare character spent her college years at Brown!
8: BREAKING: Rest of the Spring Weekend Line-up Announced
After BlogDH broke the news that Diddy and TV on the Radio would be the two headlining acts for Spring Weekend ’11, we came back a week later with the rest of the line-up. For those of you who were either not here (froshies) or casually too drunk to actually remember any of the concerts, here’s a brief rundown of the supporting acts: Das Racist was Das Wasted, Lee Fields wore a fantastic green suit, Rebirth got the ice rink dancing, Lissy Trullie didn’t even show up, and Nico Jaar ’12 was great for the 17 people who actually got there early enough. It’s that time of the year again — when the vast differences between the Flex 460 and 330 finally reveal themselves, and meal credit inequality seems almost as dire as income inequality. In past years, various students have attempted to create far-reaching end-of-semester meal credit co-ops, and we at BlogDH have decided that it’s our time to take up the gauntlet.
Check out the Facebook event to connect with other students looking to share a meal or score one. Post on the event’s wall with relevant details like where you live, which dining halls are your favorites and whether you prefer blondes or brunettes. JK, this isn’t a dating site (#butisit?).
Meet up with friends and strangers alike over a Spicy With (or an Ivy Room falafel, if you’re into yellow mush masquerading as a Middle Eastern staple…). Share the wealth — for during finals period, why not be socialists? (A’s for all!)
