The women’s hockey team (1-3-1) tied 1-1 with Union (1-9-1) tonight at Meehan Auditorium. Less than four minutes into the game, Union scored on a powerplay goal, jamming in a rebounded puck. Throughout the first period, the Bears made sloppy passes and allowed Union to out-skate them.
But early in the second, Brown scored a goal of its own, tying the game 1-1. The game came off a flick-of-the-wrist shot from forward Kelly Griffin ’13, assisted by forward Katelyn Landry ’12. The Union goalie seemed to believe she could catch the puck easily. But she was just faking.
Though the Bears picked up the intensity for the rest of the game, the score remained tied, and Union out-shot them 33-17. Freshman goaltender Aubree Moore saved the game for Brown, blocking 32 shots.
After five minutes of overtime, the score remained 1-1.
Catch more women’s hockey tomorrow at 4 p.m. at Meehan. Be there to cheer on the Bears!
