Because winter sports are winding down their regular seasons and the spring Bears are awakening slowly from their season-long slumber, there aren’t many home games this weekend.
Both hockey squads will be elsewhere this weekend, with the women’s ice hockey team taking on No. 3 Cornell in the playoffs. It is the first time since 2006 that the squad has made it to the post-season. This is why we cheer.
Meanwhile, the men’s hockey team sits in second-to-last place in the ECAC standings. Not to fret, all the men’s teams get an automatic playoff berth. We could talk about the inequality there — or I could just tell you the weekend home game schedule.
Friday, Feb. 24
Men’s tennis versus Boston College at 4pm in the Pitz.
Who the hell knew where the indoor tennis courts were? You’d be surprised to know what the Pitz is hiding.
Men’s basketball takes on Cornell at 7pm, also in the Pitz.
Saturday, Feb. 25
Just men’s basketball tipping off against Columbia at 6pm.
Sunday, Feb. 26
It’s women’s tennis‘ turn to hit some balls against Akron and URI, at 11am and 4pm, respectively. Also, what do you mean you’ve never heard of Akron?!
Don’t forget about all your fellow classmates who are stuck on a bus napping as they travel to their next competitions. Cheer for those teams you didn’t even know we had! Like women’s water polo.
